Much of the hubbub this election has dealt with these PACs, but in 2010, nonprofit, 501(c)(4) spending appears to be the real threat.  This threat gets dicier when you consider that nonprofit groups aren’t required to disclose any names of their donors. So they spend quite a lot, but it’s nowhere near as easy to track as the super PAC spending. There is a bill, appropriately named the DISCLOSE Act, that seeks to undo this loophole nonprofit groups have found for themselves. But the likelihood of it emerging unscathed from a Republican-dominated Congress is … slim to none.
